The latest website ABC results, for August 2015, show a poor month for Metro.
Metro was the only newspaper audited by ABC to see its website figures drop year on year in August.
The Metro website was down 8% year on year, and 13% month on month.
An average of 1, 400, 115 unique daily users were recorded.
The fastest growing website month on month was The Sun, which began being audited by ABC in July after removing its paywall.
The Sun's website grew 63% month on month, to 1, 289, 922.
This means that The Sun has overtaken both the Daily Star and Express websites.
The Independent was the only other national newspaper website to increase its unique daily user number month on month. It was up 2% to 2, 520, 455.
The most popular UK national newspaper website is still Mail Online, which recorded an average of 13, 702, 757 unique daily users in August.
Mail Online was up 21% year on year, but down 4% month on month.
The top five most popular newspaper websites were: Mail Online, theguardian.com, Trinity Mirror Group - Digital, Telegraph, Mirror Group Nationals.
