Ofcom's annual report has revealed that the BBC dominates both local and national news markets in the UK.
48% of respondents stated that they used BBC One for news.
Although this was down from the 53% of 2014, it still suggests that the BBC is dominating UK news markets.
The report also estimates that BBC News is the most popular UK news website.
BBC News, according to Comscore data from March 2015, has 15M unique users per month.
The data from Comscore does not include smartphone visits, therefore in reality the figure is likely to be much higher.
When asked about local news, 33% of respondents stated that they used BBC TV.
21% of respondents said that they preferred printed local newspapers, while 18% stated that they relied on word of mouth.
Just 16% of respondents said that they used social media.
50% of respondents listed the BBC as their single most important source for news; this was the highest figure.
ITN came in second after the BBC, with 12% of respondents listing it.
Sky was in third place, after ITN and the BBC with 6% of respondents listing it.
31% of respondents said that they use a newspaper for news, which is down from 40% in 2014.
The percentage of respondents saying that they used television for news was 67%, which is down from 75% in 2014.
32% of respondents use the radio, down from 36% in 2014, while those saying that they used the internet stayed the same year on year at 41%.
