Benjamin Cohen, founder of Pink News, has spoken out against the rise of ad blocking software.
Pink News founder Benjamin Cohen has said that he believes ad blocking software poses a significant threat to the future of journalism.
Pink News attracts around 5M unique browsers per month, worldwide.
Cohen has said that he estimates around 40% of its desktop computer traffic is ad blocked.
Apple's decision to sell ad blocking apps for mobile phones is also something which concerns Cohen.
Speaking to Press Gazette about ad blocking software, Cohen said If I was starting Pink News today I dont know how we would have done it. We wouldnt have been able to. This really threatens the future of journalism. The more people who block the more desperate measures publishers have to resort to Apple wants to own the digital media space.
Cohen also revealed that although Pink News is currently profitable, it relies mostly on automated advertising.
Pink News was launched in 2005 by Cohen, who later became a business and technology correspondent for Channel 4 News.
Pink News currently employs three full time journalists, while four individuals work on the commercial team.
