Portsmouth's Sports Mail may face closure at the end of this football season.
Due to poor circulation figures, the Sports Mail may publish its final edition at the end of this football season.
The Sports Mail is one of only two Saturday evening sports newspapers left in the UK.
Nail Allen, chief sports writer with the Portsmouth News, revealed the news.
The title was initially scrapped nearly four years ago, but was restarted in 2013.
The new edition donates 10p to the Pompey Supporters' Trust per issue purchased.
Allen has appealed to Pompey fans to save the title again, saying Since returning, we will have raised around £40,000 for Pompey's Academy, with 10p from every copy donated to the club.
However, falling sales are threatening its existence beyond this football season. It's not looking good.
"Developments in technology and the ability to receive instant information, rather than wait until 5pm to painstakingly study that days results, have transformed the landscape.
Why queue for copies outside the local newsagent on a Saturday evening when an iPhone and internet access is largely as thorough? Unless more fans can commit themselves to heading out to pick up a copy every week, then come Saturday, May 7, when Northampton visit Fratton Park, it could be the final whistle for a sports paper which first saw light in 1903.
