The New York Times London Office Increases Workforce
Significant growth for the London division of The New York Times has been reported by the title.
The London office of international news publication, The New York Times, is to increase its staff numbers to over 100.
Currently, the London office employs 65 staff, which includes 35 editorial staff.
However, Stephen Dunbar-Johnson stated that this would not be a 'huge expansion', despite also saying 'I feel that we may end up needing even more space'.
Dunbar-Johnson also revealed that the London and Hong Kong offices of The New York Times are being made into digital hubs for the title.
He said, I dont think it should be seen as were looking to compete with the local media, the British media, to cover the UK per se. Were looking at this as an international operation [to] cover Europe and the world at large for our readers. And in a global world today, a lot of our coverage is international coverage and we want to make sure that were getting it up on our digital platforms in the right way, in the way that makes sense for our readers wherever they are around the world so starting as the sun rises in the east, in Hong Kong, and moves across to Europe, and then hands back to New York.
In addition to the size increase of the London office, Dunbar-Johnson said that the company's native advertising agency, T Brand, would be expanding into the UK in August 2015.
T Brand will be employing four staff in the capital.
