Tuesday 17th January marked a transition for the Surrey & Sussex NewstrAid area committee following its AGM. After many years of loyal service, Chairman of the area committee Roddy Smith, along with Treasurer John Bradshaw, stood down to enjoy a well earned retirement.  

The area committee will now be chaired by John Bardsley, Group Managing Director of the InterGo Group. Commenting on the transition, John says, I am delighted to take on the role of Chairman of the Surrey and Sussex area committee, supported by an enlarged team, and we look forward to doing all we can to support this important charity and the very valuable support it gives to a wide number of beneficiaries. I would like to thank Roddy and John for their many years of loyal service, during which they raised a very significant sum for NewstrAid and we look forward to building on their legacy. The new Surrey & Sussex Area Committee members include, Bob Scott (retired), Lian Shortman (Smiths News), Amelia Bardsley (InterMedia), Lauren Haisley-Wright (InterMedia), Dave Martin (Dynamic Thought), David Piper (Pipers News) and Matthew Cartwright (Newsquest).
