Much like the National June 2015 ABC Results, Regional print titles saw a drop in sale. With only one title, Newsquests Sunday Herald, seeing a year-on-year increase, the overall average fell by 10.2% year-on-year for the first half of 2015.
The leading regional title was the London Evening Standard, which sold on average 887,516 and had a small decrease of 0.3%. However, this would have been helped greatly by it being a free title. Far behind in second place, Express & Star, which charge 88.2% of readers, sold on average 67,276.
For regional titles, Birmingham Mail saw the largest decrease, falling 25% year-on-year. The circulation drop was partially due to a reduction in free distribution from 8,000 a day to 2,000. Whereas The Lancashire Telegraph introduced 1,615 free bulk copies to its circulation,
Newsquests The Sunday Heralds success was likely due it being one of the only titles to support for a Yes vote in the Scottish independence referendum. Newsquests other pro-independence title The National, has also recently added a Saturday edition. However despite these positive results, Newsquest Media Group are
still planning cuts.
The top title for Sunday newspapers was Sunday Life, which although fell by 8% year-on-year, had a total result of 40,602 significantly more than second place, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne Sunday Sun, which had 29,190.
