Trevor Kavanagh, a former columnist for The Sun, has been appointed to the board of IPSO.
Whilst at The Sun, Trevor Kavanagh worked as political editor between 1983 and 2006, as well as in the role of chief leader writer between 2006 and 2008.
Sir Hayden Philips chairs IPSO's appointments panel, the team that appointed Kavanagh.
Ruth Sawtell is also joining the board of IPSO; she is also a member of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman board, and the PhonepayPlus board.
Trevor Kavanagh will replace Bill Newman, while Ruth Sawtell will replace Ros Altmann.
Newman was sacked by IPSO, while Altmann stepped down from her role.
