Intel starts using Facebook Instant Articles

The first brand to use Instant Articles is Intel, with it's iQ offering.

Intel's tech-focused publication iQ has become the first title to use Facebook Instant Articles.

iQ was founded in 2012, and is available in 17 different languages.

Three Intel employees run the title in the US, with the US edition posting seven to 10 articles per week.

iQ is said to reach between 1M and 5M readers per month, mostly through paid social distribution.

VP of Digital Marketing and Media at Intel, Becky Brown, said that majority of iQ's reach came from Facebook already, so Instant Articles were the perfect fit.

She said: “the whole experience is better for users in general, but we’re taking it a little slow so we don’t overextend ourselves."

Although Intel is currently the only brand using Instant Articles, Facebook has expressed an interest in other already established publishing brands using the feature - as long as they publish content on a regular basis.

Brown also said: “We aspire to be a true publisher and not just act like one. This is a wonderful move to signal we’re not just an advertiser; we have content that’s relevant to the conversation, to cultural movements, to things that are on people’s minds.”
