June ABCs Reveal Bad Month For Tabloids

Aside from The Daily Mail, all tabloid newspaper saw a big year on year circulation decline according to June ABC figures.

Every tabloid newspaper in the UK, aside from The Daily Mail titles, have recorded a double digital year on year circulation decline in June 2015, according to the most recently released ABC figures.

Despite this, The Sun on Sunday still managed to become the newspaper with the biggest Sunday circulation in the UK.

Prior to The Sun on Sunday, The Mail on Sunday held the title of biggest Sunday circulation in the UK. It took this title from The Sun on Sunday not long ago.

Victoria Newton, editor of The Sun on Sunday, said "The Sun on Sunday remains the market leader on Sundays. When it comes to journalism, whether it is serious news such as in the aftermath of the Tunisia massacre, celebrity revelations, or sports reporting, we continue to outperform our competitors."

The Sunday People, however, was the single worst performing national newspaper.

Circulation for The Sunday people was down 14%, to just 316, 320.

In terms of broadsheets, The Times saw a 1% year on year circulation loss to 389, 409.

Despite this, The Times has been the best performing newspaper every month of 2015 so far.

The second best performing broadsheet was The Financial Times, with a 3% circulation loss to 214, 256.

The Financial Times was followed by the i, which was down in circulation by 4% to 274, 556.
