A Digiday report has revealed 36% of publishers are embracing VR or AR.
At the Digiday Publishing Summit, publishers were asked whether they were "yea or nay" on virtual or augmented reality technology.
The results revealed that although VR has a long way to go before it becomes mainstream, there is interest in the technology.
While expensive to produce and experience, publishers have found a way to use low-cost equipment to produce content.
By partnering with start-ups and other third parties, publishers can reduce the costs of producing content using the technology.
In the last month, Samsung have found that 1 million consumers had used its VR headset at least once, suggesting that there is an appetite for it.
