Recently, The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) announced the launch of the new IPSO mark.
The mark is a visual symbol that distinguishes publications as trusty, quality brands and is displayable by all 2,500 of the publications regulated by the IPSO.
The newspaper, magazine, or website that holds the accreditation shows it is an edited, regulated product that embraces public accountability and is committed to exceptional editorial standards.
In a world riddled with fake news, the public is becoming increasingly wary of the information they consume through the media. It is important that now more than ever to ensure that the information readers digest is factually and ethically accurate. The IPSO mark helps with this by indicating responsible, quality journalism.
Here is what the IPSOs Chief Executive Matt Tee had to say: I strongly believe that IPSO membership helps our publishers distinguish themselves from the unregulated, thereby demonstrating that they choose to hold themselves accountable to higher standards. The magazine and newspaper industry face a number of complex challenges over the short term, and one of the ways it can thrive and prosper is by its commitment to independent, effective regulation. That means IPSO and thats why Im proud that so many of our member publications will display our mark on their pages.
