A local Merseyside title, the St Helens Reporter, which is published by Johnston Press, has gone digital only.
The St Helens Reporter currently has a circulation of 75, 000 and competes with the Newsquest title, the St Helens Star.
The St Helens Star has a circulation of 97, 000.
Johnston Press has recently closed a number of local titles as part of an ongoing cost cutting plan.
At the beginning of October 2015, Johnston Press announced the closure of 11 local titles. A further 7 titles have been closed since this announcement.
Most recently, Johnston Press has closed both the Musselburgh News and the East Lothian News in Scotland.
The Sunday Journal in Derry, Northern Ireland has also been closed.
