A new editorial office for The Guardian is launching in San Francisco.
As well as the announcement of the new editorial office, The Guardian has revealed that Merope Mills will be appointed Executive Editor.
As well as being Executive Editor, Merope Mills will head up the new San Francisco office as West Coast Editor.
It has been reported that the office in San Francisco will focus on "technology, entertainment and news".
It has also been announced that Paul Lewis has been appointed West Coast Bureau Chief.
Lewis will be joining Mills in the new editorial office.
Head of Technology will be Jemima Kiss, who will be relocating to San Francisco for fulfil her new role in the west coast office.
Nigel M Smith will also be joining the team as an entertainment writer; he will be based in Los Angeles.
The Guardian US already has offices in New York and Washington.
A spokesperson for The Guardian said that the new San Francisco office "will not only widen the Guardian's reach across the US, but will also contribute to the organisation's 24/7 editorial coverage, bridging the time zone gap between New York and Sydney".
