Trinity Mirror's North East Newspaper Websites Merge
Regional newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror has announced plans to merge it's North East titles websites.
The Newcastle's Journal newspaper website will be merged with the Newcastle Chronicle's website, which is called ChronicleLive.
A spokesperson for Trinity Mirror said that the Newcastle's Journal website will "continue to exist as an archive site but from Monday, users will be redirected to ChronicleLive".
The ChronicleLive website will now cover local news from "the Scottish border to Teesside, through Northumberland, Tyneside, Sunderland and Durham".
ChronicleLive saw an average of 195, 257 unique browsers per day in June 2015, according to ABC, which was a 75.8% year on year increase.
The total monthly unique browser number was around 3M.
Conversely, ABC revealed that the Newcastle's Journal website attracted just 14, 654 unique browsers per day in May 2015, with a total of 357, 210 for the entire month.
Trinity Mirror stated that in May 2015, ChronicleLive saw 23M page views in total - 25 times more than the Newcastle's Journal website.
"The website merge does not affect the centres print publishing strategy and both The Chronicle and The Journal newspapers will continue to be published six days a week. The Journal will also upgrade its current paid-for e-edition app." said a Trinity Mirror spokesperson.
