ABC have released the results of its regional newspaper web traffic, based on unique browsers. Numbers appear to cancel out print readership decline for the first half of this year as they see an average increase of 32.8% year-on-year.
The most popular group was Trinity Mirror Regional Network, seeing an average of over 2 million unique viewers a day. Some of their titles managed incredible year-on-year increases, including Liverpool Echo, +90.1%, and Teesside Evening Gazette, +79.5%. Coventry Telegraph, however, saw a decrease of 35.9% year-on-year, which was the largest decrease across the board.
Other titles to see quick growths were Newcastle Chronicle, which was up 87.5% year-on-year, and the Manchester Evening News, up 74.8%. Manchester Evening News was the best performing title overall as it attracted an average of 573,342 unique views a day.
Newsquest Media Group followed Trinity Mirror Regional Network, with 1.2 million views (+35.5% YoY), and close behind Local World Network with 1.2 million, just a few thousand off. Johnston Network fell behind with just 972,454 unique views a day, although still saw a healthy increase of 21.3% YoY.
