The British Journal of Photography has set up a crowdfunding website.
The BJP is allowing the public an opportunity to invest in Aptitude Media.
Investments start at just £10, and the title has stressed that each investment will help with momentum.
Aptitude Media is EIS approved, profitable, and reaches over 1 million people per month.
Editorial director of BJP, Simon Brainbridge, said: "British Journal of Photography has been published for more than 160 years, starting out as a weekly trade journal and evolving into a beautifully produced monthly magazine dedicated to contemporary photography. Since going independent three years ago weve completely redesigned the print magazine, launched award-winning apps, new awards and events aimed at capturing the next generation of readers."
CEO of the title, Mark Hartog, said: "We are now seeking investment to grow four key areas of the business as outlined on our investor page - print sales, BJP's archive, events and new digital revenue streams. As well as our magazine and website, there are 650,000 people who follow us on social media because they love what we do, and we want to give them the chance to be a part of our future plans by offering them a share of the company. Crowdfunding has become mainstream in the short three years since starting our business, and this interesting new platform has created an opportunity for us to invite our readers and followers the chance to invest in our profitable and growing business, and to own a piece of photographic history."
