Central European News (CEN) has engaged a lawyer in the US, asking for damages and removal of the 5,000-word story.
CEN supply human-interest stories from around the world to many UK national newspapers and websites.
The article titled '
The Kind of Bullsh*t News' was published on 24
th April 2015 and describes the Australian-based agency as one of the Western medias primary sources of tantalising and attention-grabbing stories. It states their stories are often inaccurate or downright false.
As a result, CEN Owner, Michael Leidig has published a 126-page digital book titled Buzzfeed Bottom Feeder An Insider Look At How Buzzfeed Tried To Destroy A Rival Business (which you can purchase on Amazon for a little over £3). Leidig also comments that since the Buzzfeed report they have lost a 500,000 Euro investment and forced to take down our English news websites containing hundreds of thousands of unique articles because of intense media scrutiny.
CEN are demanding it be taken down, retracted, and apologized for, and that suitable compensation be paid, according to the letter sent to Buzzfeed.
CEN have said they previously had offered to settle amicably, with no financial compensation. Leidig continues that the legal bid to get a retraction is now the only option.
Buzzfeed are yet to comment.
