Newsquest Media Group also acquired essentialARB publications.
The titles will form part of Newsquest's Scottish magazine portfolio.
Currently the portfolio consists of: Country Lifestyle Scotland, Family Focus Scotland, High Flyer, Scottish Cycling, The Scottish Farmer, and Scottish Mountaineer.
Forestry Journal is published monthly, and is a subscription-only title.
The magazine is aimed at those working in the forest industry, and has grown significantly since it was launched in 1994.
It was first launched at the APF Exhibition under the title Forest Machine Journal, with the title's name only changing as recently as 2008 to Forestry Journal.
Chief executive of Newsquest, Henry Faure Walker, said: The Forestry Journal business is a great fit for our Scottish magazine business, based in Glasgow, and I am delighted to welcome this niche acquisition to the Newsquest publishing portfolio.
essentialARB was launched in 2008, and is a quarterly publication.
The title is aimed at those involved in arboriculture and tree care.
