A new initiative at Johnston Press will see staff being offered cash prizes in exchange for increasing website traffic.
The publishing giant is setting out plans for all 201 websites to reach a combined total of 110M page views per month.
In the first half of 2015, Johnston Press attracted, on average, 972, 454 daily unique browsers.
This left the publisher behind Newsquest, Local World, and Trinity Mirror.
The new staff initiative will run between October and December 2015, and will give staff the chance to win up to £5, 000.
Prizes will be awarded to staff for the highest percentage increase in page views in the last three months of 2015.
First prize will be £2, 500, second prize will be £1, 250, and third prize will win staff £750.
