This will be the third round of job cuts Newsquest has seen in the last ten months.
The cuts will stretch across the Romanes Media Group, which Newsquest bought in May, in what will be the third round of job cuts in the last ten months. According to the National Union of Journalists, more than 20 jobs could be risk.
Herald titles to be affected include The Herald, The Evening Times, and The National, which all saw a drop in year-on-year sales - according to the latest ABC Audit. However the Sunday Herald, was in fact the only title in all the weekly titles that saw an year-on-year increase in the latest
regional ABC results.
Romanes Media Groups titles include the daily Greenock Telegraph, and an additional 19 paid-for weekly newspapers in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Bekshire. The National Union of Journalists commented on the group saying they had not made any editorial redundancies in recent years, but now faces adapting to the Newsquest culture of meeting new budgets by cutting jobs and introducing damaging savings which will have a severe effect on editorial.

NUJ Scotland Organiser, Paul Holleran said, This treadmill of redundancies cannot continue. I have told Newsquest it is not sustainable to keep cutting jobs without putting a robust alternative structure in place.
The company have responded in a letter, where they argued newspaper revenues are declining and there is a need to cut cost and increase sales efficiency
