Several consumer information businesses have been purchased by Progressive Digital Media from business publishing company Informa.

Progressive Digital Media (PDM) are believed to have paid £25M for the consumer information businesses.

PDM confirmed that these businesses include: Datamonitor Financial, Datamonitor Consumer, MarketLine and Informa's Verdict businesses.

Mike Danson, executive chairman of PDM, founded Datamonitor.

Datamonitor was purchased by Informa in 2007 for £502M.

Although PDM have acquired Datamonitor Financial and Datamonitor Consumer, they have not acquired all Datamonitor businesses.

Informa has retained the Datamonitor healthcare division.

“The acquisition of these businesses will broaden Progressive’s consumer offering, providing scale and additional categories in an important industry sector. This acquisition will be our largest to date, yet of all the companies acquired by Progressive, these businesses are the ones we are most familiar with. Whilst some investment will be required this year and next, the board is confident that this acquisition will provide a platform for further growth.” said PDM's chief executive, Simon Pyper.
