Local free daily newspaper the Evening Standard has lost two editorial staff.
James Ashton, now former executive editor of the Evening Standard has left his role and the title.
On his departure, Ashton said:The time is right to try something different and I'm looking forward to new challenges in journalism and beyond. I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of such a hard-working and talented editorial team for the last four years."
Ashton is also executive editor at the Independent.
The Evening Standard is also losing Tim Nichols, now former sports editor for the title.
Nichols is leaving the Evening Standard for the Daily Mail, to become deputy sports editor.
Head of Sport at the Daily Mail, Lee Clayon, said "Tim made a huge impact when he first joined the Daily Mail as a young journalist, moving through the ranks to become news editor before moving to the Evening Standard in search of opportunities to further his career. He has proven himself to be a successful sports editor with a drive for news and he is ready to take the next step in his career now."
