The Sun performs well in website ABCs

The fastest growing national newspaper website in March was The Sun.

Compared with February 2016, The Sun's website was up 10.2% month on month.

Despite this impressive growth, the website is still in sixth position.

The Sun's website boasts 2.3M unique browsers per day, according to ABC.

The increase in browsers is mainly due to the website becoming free to access in November 2015.

The fastest growing national newspaper website in year on year terms was Express.co.uk, which was up 48% to 1.2M unique browsers per day.

The Mail Online, continual leader of the table, was flat month on month.

The Daily Mail's online counterpart saw 14.4M global unique browsers per day in March 2016.

Of all the newspapers audited by ABC (national and regional), Trinity Mirror's Teesside Evening Gazette was the overall fastest growing.

The local title grew 63% year on year to 122, 093 unique browsers per day.
