The Sun have released its first website traffic figures for two years, which show it to be the least visited UK national newspaper website.
The Sun website recently decided to start making more online content available free, thus they have returned to ABC auditing. However they have seen a drop from July 2013 (prior to the online paywall) taking an average of 1.9 million readers a day, to July 2015 having an average just shy of 800,000.
David Dinsmore, Sun Editor, comments, “We anticipate that numbers will continue to rise. This strong first month online adds to a storming July for paper sales that saw circulations for The Sun and Sun on Sunday rise more than any of our competitors”.
Mail Online continues its title as the biggest UK national newspaper website, by some way, with an average of 14.3 million unique browsers a day and year-on-year increase of 29.36%. Second is theguardian.com, which had an average of 8 million unique browsers.
