A new virtual reality offering was revealed at the recent FIPP event in London.
Although it seems like an exciting glimpse of the future, VR equipment isn't quite ready to be rolled out to the masses.
Currently on the market are high end offerings such as Oculus Rift, designed for famers and business users.
There is also Google Cardboard, a low-tech version of VR to give users just a taste of what it offers.
Now, Google has announced another offering: Google Daydream.
Google Daydream is a mixture of standards and accessories, which the tech giant hopes will become the de facto standard for mobile VR. This includes software installed into smartphones and headsets, amongst other things.
Including purchasing a smartphone, the full Daydream kit will cost users £550, which is not particularly expensive. This will mean that it is a viable option for publishers to reach a wide audience with VR.
Despite this potential, Daydream will only be available for Android users.
This is different to Google's Cardboard offering, which is available for both Android and iPhone.
